BOXING

Boxing  is  the practice of fighting with the fists, especially with padded gloves in a roped square ring  according to prescribed rules , usually wearing Protective Gloves, throw  Punches at each other for a predetermined set of time in a Boxing Ring . It Includes Shadow Punches and heavy bag workout.

  1. a) Amateur Boxing

Amateur boxing (also called Olympic Boxing or Common Wealth Boxing) is a variant of Boxing with some rules and regulations .Athletes  are geared to protect the health (Head guards). 10 oz.  Gloves for competitions, specially designed with cushion  .  Scoring is based on number of clean punches landed, rather than physical power. Referees also ensure that the boxers don’t use holding tactics to prevent the opponent from swinging . If this occurs, the referee separates the opponents and orders them to continue boxing.

  1. b) Professional Boxing

Rules vary from country to country, sometimes even within one country.  6, 8, and 10 oz. gloves for Competitors, depending on jurisdiction . Scoring is based on punches, knock-downs, knockouts and injuring  the opponent can also be counted. Some tactics considered fouls in amateur boxing are permitted in professional boxing.
